Liverpool MMA fighter Adam Cullen says that the goal for 2025 is to push on and be signed by the UFC, starting this weekend at Cage Warriors 185.
Cullen can continue his winning streak on Saturday night, which marks the beginning of his aims for this year as he told Fight Night Network: “Loads of wins, loads of finishes, and be pushing on trying to get signed by the UFC. That is the goal completely now.
[The aim is to] get to the UFC however I can, whether that’s through a Cage Warriors title, without one, through [Dana White’s] Contender Series, I am getting myself in the position where I push on and get to that global stage where I belong.”
The lightweight fighter won his last bout by third round ground-and-pound stoppage, and the Scouser promises to improve his record to 9-2 this weekend as he told the Fight Night Network: “I know what I’m going to do. I’m going to go in there and blast this kid all over the gaff and move on to the next one.”
26-year-old Cullen only found out who his opponent is less than two weeks ago, as he fights Brazilian, Nonato Junior, on Saturday night in Manchester.
After a controversial split decision loss at the start of 2024, Cullen has decided that to achieve his UFC goals, he must continue to end fights by stoppage as he said: “The gameplan is always to finish fights. I’ve seen what happens when I don’t get a finish, I can end up on the wrong side of split decisions.
“The plan is always to put people in body bags, that is my number one goal. Everyone who steps in there with me, because it is the only way that I can guarantee that I get the win.”
While he acknowledges that it may take a few more fights to get there, Cullen believes that he is already at the level to fight with the very best in the UFC as he said: “I’m at the point now where I know I’m a world class MMA fighter, I belong in the top of the world. Expect to see another shutout performance.”
Cullen fights out of Liverpool's Next Generation Gym, with the likes of Paddy Pimblett, Molly McCann, and Luke Riley who headlines the Cage Warriors 185 fight card.
With a 10-0 record with seven wins by knockout, Riley has said that a win would make it his last fight with Cage Warriors, with the UFC up next.
When talking about Riley, Cullen said: “It has to be [the UFC next], I don’t know how it hasn’t been already. A big win is going to prove the level that Luke Riley is, and the level that is coming out of our gym constantly. It is daft if he isn’t in the UFC after that because what more do you have to do.”
